The absence of the sun indicated to animals and people alike that it was time to rest, to let oneself sleep and regain their energy for the next day ahead of them. But for some, nighttime was also an hour of reflection, of letting one’s mind wander as they mulled over all that happened to them in just a few short hours. And of course, nighttime was also when many strange, even fantastical events would occur, without the discerning eye of the sun to notice them even happening. One such incident took place in a certain home in a certain neighborhood in Japan. Ayumu Kasuga, better known by her colleagues as “Osaka,” had finished school for the day, and was attempting to do some studying at the insistence of her homeroom teacher.
