**Giggles!**
This one is going to take a bit of an explanation ...
Back in the 1980s, my girlfriend, Kaitlynn, and I would come up here to Savannah, Georgia to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and even meet up with her extensive family who lived either here or in Atlanta. We would have a room either at the Radison (which is the Marriot on River Street now), the Hyatt, or even the DeSoto. Not only did I get to hang out with a rather rich and old family, but I had a lot of fun. To understand the situation better, you have to understand that while I did hang out with Kait, I wasn't much (if all) a drinker. Often I had to be Kait's handler since she was a drinker ... such of a one that she might have been able to give my Big Sister a run for her money. But also, Kait was a brawler, often getting drunk enough to either start a fight or look for one to finish up. I never saw her loose a fight, but I watched her to much of my horror finish many. One story, she dropped a guy about three times her weight ... and Kait was not a small lady, standing almost six feet tall and weighing in at one hundred and seventy-five pounds. She caught him by his personality and there was a sicking wet pop before the guy hit the floor like a wet sack of concrete. Honestly, I was frightened.
Now, that was the drinking and the fighting, but the real story comes in when I would have to carry her back to the hotel (or in Atlanta, Georgia where she lived, I had to get her to the cab and make arrangements to get her car later.) I'm very short, almost embarrassingly short to where she was about a third taller than I which made me carrying her a comical sight. One particular night, I was carrying her down River Street and a cop on horseback came up and asked what happened. Before I could say anything, Kait had started up a conversation with the horse, laughing and loving the horse enough to want to take the horse from the cop. Ohmygawd! I was so worried we were going to jail! That was when the cop recognized her voice. They had gone to school together or known each other somehow ... I know that she went to St. Vincent's Academy for a few years and graduated from there, but this guy must have graduated from Benedictine. Anyways, my back was starting to hurt now and they were having a great time. The cop was a good fellow and made sure we got back to the hotel (which I believe for this adventure was the Hyatt) and even sent Kait roses for the next morning.
It's been ... wow ... twenty five years since Kait passed, killed in a car wreck in Atlanta back in August of 1991. I have never gotten over the loss of her in my life and honestly, I don't want to forget her. She was the best and it's not fair to compare anyone to her, but I cannot help it.
Having said that, I want to give a great and special Thank You! for doing this piece and the others with Israfel and Caitlynn. Telling their adventures has been a blessing on helping me deal with the loss and yet has allowed me to keep such a strong memory of Kaitlynn.

At least you still have the good memories.
