It's not often that I kick back and become a player in any of the Saturday Night RP games, but I will be tomorrow. The boys thought I needed a break from being in control of the game and suggested that I sit back for a few weekends or so. I have no problem with that ... especially if I can enjoy how others run a game and learn some pointers on how to become better.
The game tomorrow night will be based off of books called "The Dresden Files", a series I'm only marginally familiar with through talking with the GM, the Wiz Kid, and my nephew. After talking a bit, he's going to allow me to play a version of my Caitlynn Wildfire (the anime look, not the PlastiCat, though she will be using that name ... I think.) The Wiz Kid took a copy of her character sheet, plus Israfel Vincent's stats (as a normal human), and will make changes as he feels are needed.
I have to admit that I'm curious to see how this comes out ... though the group understands that my patience for vampires, angels, and the like is stretched thin, thanks to shows like "Angel", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and "Twilight". I will admit that I have seen none of them, but I have dealt with people who are big fans and who insist on playing characters based off of the show on-line. I very rarely will say anything because I believe in allowing people to be who they want to be when it comes to an RP game. However, there is something to be said about a character fitting in. Most of the time, people do a really good job with fitting the character in ... but it's the rare times it doesn't work that bothers me.
My nephew just spent the better part of an hour talking to me on the phone and explaining to me about the history of the series and why he thinks I would like it. It was a fascinating phone call ... and one I'm grateful to have. I do NOT wish to go into this game and be a turd. It's all about having fun.
The Wiz Kid did his best in selling the idea of the story to me and what he did share seems like it will be fun.
So, I will focus on that.
Wish me luck.
Love and Kisses,
Loonia

Hope you have fun though
All in all, I think I will enjoy the series.
